About your Mentor

This summer camp is a hands-on, real-world creative challenge.

Students will step into the roles of designers, writers and animators, conceptualizing and building a creative concept around a real-world place — such as a zoo, café, museum, park or gallery. Each team can choose their own project/theme.

Working in teams, they’ll learn how creative professionals take a simple idea and develop it into a full-fledged project, from concept and branding to storytelling and visual presentation.

Every day, students are guided by expert mentors from the creative industry, gaining real-world insight into how ideas come to life.

Camp structure

Day 1
Students choose a real-world location (like a park, museum or gallery) and start developing a concept around it. They will define its purpose, audience, mood and name.
Then they will create simple visual elements using accessible tools like Canva or analog sketching: a moodboard, logo and poster or signage.

Day 2
Students will craft short-form writing pieces related to their project: this could be a visitor welcome message, a short story from a guest's perspective, or a guide to an event or feature at the location.
They'll also explore how to write slogans or headlines that capture attention.

Day 3
Students will define and design frames that will create a short stop motion animation for this place.
This could be a promotional teaser or welcome video. They will plan and animate using paper cutouts and hand-drawn elements.

Day 4
Students will explore how AI can support visual creation. They will experiment with using AI-generated images for enhancing scenes, backgrounds or new signage. If some students don’t have access to paid tools, they will work collaboratively or use sample materials.

Day 5
Each team will prepare a short presentation of their project. They will introduce their place, present visuals and animation.
Mentors and peers will give feedback, helping students reflect on what they learned.
